Hi, I’m Sophie. Mum of two little boys… but that’s not all.
When I went on maternity leave in late 2018 I had no idea how much was going to change for me.
In one day I went from working in a bustling London office, running a team of 40, surrounded by friends and colleagues to being at home with almost zero daytime adult interaction.
Over the years big things happened - another baby for me, covid for all of us - and I kept busy running a coaching business from home, but I still missed the camaraderie of women who had the same interests as me.
Sure, I met new people though nursery and playgroups, but for the most part they were people whose sole common ground with me was that our children were a similar age. Conversation was almost exclusively around our children.
Sometimes I just wanted to have fun, mindless chats about things other than the children, go for a bougie lunch, or have a cool new experience somewhere local, but it was hard to find people to do these things with.
I knew there were other women out there who felt the exact same way as me.
Because when you become a mum it’s easy to be just that. A mum. You even start introducing yourself that way.
But I’m still me. And you’re still you. And we still have the same interests and needs as before we had kids.
One of those needs is for a friendship group of likeminded women who share your interests, your desire to learn, to grow, to better yourself, and to have fun along the way.
So The Bougie Mums Social Club was born.
